The Bubba Mac Shack with owners Herb “Bubba” Birch and son Mac Birch’s new concept resembling a French Quarter café with a new location and some slight changes to the menu has quickly become one of the most popular stops on the Ocean City NJ Boardwalk for eaters of all ages. With the closing of one of the most well recognized music, entertainment, food, and family destinations in South Jersey, Bubba and Mac without hesitation have turned over a new leaf with the roll out of the second Bubba Mac Shack now located between 9th and 10th St on the Ocean City Boardwalk. The popularity of the Bubba Mac Shack is reflected in the returning customers showcasing their favorite Bubba Mac Tee Shirt and with the energetic children shouting “Bubba…..Bubba,” all over the boardwalk. The new restaurant resembles the old Somers Point location with the red and white stripe awnings, Blues Brothers statues, once real stuffed alligators, and of course local artist Nancy Palermo’s famous murals surrounding the Shack exterior. The 52 seat café features many of the same great classics such as: Bubba and Tucks Baby Back Ribs, pulled pork, gumbo, jambalaya, as well as some new boardwalk favorites including, foot long hot dogs, kids meals, beach burgers, sweet corn on the cob, popcorn shrimp, and much more. The Shack is open at 11am every day for lunch and dinner. Eat in or call ahead for takeout (609) 398-1635. If you want to go to the beach for the day, hit the Shack for lunch and they’ll give you a beach tag to use all day! In addition to the restaurant the Bubba Mac Blues Band is still rockin the Jersey Shore performing all over the area. Some of the spots around the area the band performs this summer include Sails restaurant, Tuckahoe Inn, Bally’s Beach Bar, and the Ocean City Boardwalk.
